When it comes to catering your wedding, you want to choose the best option for you and your guests. It's always best to meet with a catering company, such as Personal Touch Experience, to discuss your options in order to understand how they specifically set up each style of catering. However, here are the four most common ways to go about it:

  1. Plated: Seated plated catering is when the caterers will bring out each individual course to your guests much like what they would do at a restaurant. This is typically the most expensive option because you have to pay for multiple courses, plates, and silverware, but it's also the fanciest option and most traditional. This may be a good option if you are having a smaller wedding and want to stick with a traditional style.
  2. Buffet: A buffet is a catering option in which the catering company will just take care of the cooking and clean up. Your guests, usually by table, will make their way to the buffet table and select the food they want to eat. This provides more variety for guests, which may be the best option if you have a large number of guests who will each have their own personal tastes in food, as well as possible diet restrictions.
  3. Hors D'oeuvres: When serving hors d'oeuvres, your catering company will walk around with a plate of food for guests to pick out throughout the event. This is a great option if you are having a wedding during a time that is not close to lunch or dinner. You can even do this for a wedding that is going to take place in the morning. This way your guest won't feel pressured to eat if they aren't hungry and you don't have to pay for a whole lot of food that people may not even eat.
  4. Drop-Off: If you prefer for there to be no caterers at your wedding, you can always have a drop-off service in which the caterers will deliver the food, set it up for presentation, and leave before the reception begins. This is a great option for a small venue that cannot accommodate for a large number of people.

By knowing these ways that you can go about catering, you can determine what direction you want to go with so you can have an idea of what needs to be discussed with the catering company that you choose.
